Local guide

Doing business in Pune.

Pune is one of India’s biggest engineering and automotive hubs, with suppliers across Pimpri-Chinchwad, Bhosari, Chakan, Talegaon and Ranjangaon, alongside IT services firms, food businesses and retail in areas like Laxmi Road.

Component makers here often borrow for new machines when a large customer increases orders, and for working capital while they wait to be paid. Lenders look at your customers, GST returns and order book alongside the usual documents. Under the MSMED Act, buyers should pay micro and small suppliers within 45 days, and TReDS lets you sell invoices raised on large buyers.

Coverage is set PIN code by PIN code, and the industrial belts at Chakan and Ranjangaon lie well outside Pune city, so options can differ from those in town. Share your business PIN code to see who can lend to you.

Good to know

Your rights as a business borrower.

  • A Key Fact Statement before you sign

For MSME term loans, the lender must give you a Key Fact Statement with the APR, every fee and the repayment schedule before you sign. A fee that isn’t in it can’t be charged without your consent.

  • No prepayment fee on many floating-rate loans

For floating-rate business loans to individuals and micro and small enterprises, sanctioned or renewed from 1 January 2026, banks and larger NBFCs can’t charge a prepayment fee. Small finance banks, regional rural banks, some co-operative banks and mid-sized NBFCs can’t charge one on such loans up to ₹50 lakh.

  • Never pay to get a loan

Firstfund doesn’t charge you to apply. A real lender pays the loan into your business’s bank account, deducts any processing fee shown in the KFS, and never asks for money upfront.

Based on Reserve Bank of India directions on Key Facts Statements (2024), pre-payment charges (2025) and digital lending (2025). Your lender’s KFS and loan agreement have the final terms.

Questions

Business loans in Pune: FAQs.

Does my business need to be in Pune?

Lenders lend where they operate, so where your business is registered and runs decides which lenders can serve you. Share your business PIN code and our team will check.

Do I need GST registration?

Many lenders ask for it, but not all. Some accept other business proof, such as Udyam registration or a shop licence, especially for smaller amounts.

Do I need collateral?

Not always. Many lenders offer unsecured business loans. Larger amounts or longer tenures may need security, such as property or the equipment you buy.

A large customer has placed a new order. Can I borrow against it?

Some lenders consider purchase orders from established buyers when they set a working capital limit, and invoice discounting works once you have billed. Share the order details and our team will check.

Can I get a loan for a used CNC machine?

Some lenders finance used machinery after a valuation, usually for a shorter tenure than a new machine. Keep the seller’s quotation and the machine’s details ready.

Does Firstfund charge me anything?

No. Sharing your details with Firstfund is free. Lenders may charge a processing fee, which they must show in the Key Fact Statement.
