Local guide

Doing business in Ahmedabad.

Ahmedabad has a long history of textile processing and trade. Today its GIDC estates at Naroda, Vatva and Odhav, and newer ones at Changodar and Sanand, are home to chemical, pharma, engineering and automobile suppliers, while wholesale and retail trade stays strong in the old city’s markets.

Units in the estates often borrow to replace or add machinery and to buy raw material when orders rise; traders need working capital for stock and for the credit they give to buyers. Lenders read your GST returns and bank statements closely, so keep them filed and up to date. If you supply large buyers, TReDS lets you sell invoices raised on them, and under the MSMED Act buyers should pay micro and small suppliers within 45 days.

Coverage is set PIN code by PIN code, so a unit at Changodar or Sanand, outside the city, may have different options from a shop in town. Share your business PIN code to see who can lend to you.

Good to know

Your rights as a business borrower.

  • A Key Fact Statement before you sign

For MSME term loans, the lender must give you a Key Fact Statement with the APR, every fee and the repayment schedule before you sign. A fee that isn’t in it can’t be charged without your consent.

  • No prepayment fee on many floating-rate loans

For floating-rate business loans to individuals and micro and small enterprises, sanctioned or renewed from 1 January 2026, banks and larger NBFCs can’t charge a prepayment fee. Small finance banks, regional rural banks, some co-operative banks and mid-sized NBFCs can’t charge one on such loans up to ₹50 lakh.

  • Never pay to get a loan

Firstfund doesn’t charge you to apply. A real lender pays the loan into your business’s bank account, deducts any processing fee shown in the KFS, and never asks for money upfront.

Based on Reserve Bank of India directions on Key Facts Statements (2024), pre-payment charges (2025) and digital lending (2025). Your lender’s KFS and loan agreement have the final terms.

Questions

Business loans in Ahmedabad: FAQs.

Does my business need to be in Ahmedabad?

Lenders lend where they operate, so where your business is registered and runs decides which lenders can serve you. Share your business PIN code and our team will check.

Do I need GST registration?

Many lenders ask for it, but not all. Some accept other business proof, such as Udyam registration or a shop licence, especially for smaller amounts.

Do I need collateral?

Not always. Many lenders offer unsecured business loans. Larger amounts or longer tenures may need security, such as property or the equipment you buy.

My unit is on a GIDC plot. Can I offer it as security?

Some lenders accept a mortgage of a GIDC plot, usually with GIDC’s permission to mortgage. Many loans to micro and small units need no collateral at all, because of the CGTMSE guarantee. Our team can tell you which suits your loan.

I sell textiles on credit to traders in other states. Does that matter?

Lenders look at how long your buyers take to pay and whether your sales show in your GST returns. Steady receipts in your bank account help, and invoice discounting can free up cash held in unpaid bills.

Does Firstfund charge me anything?

No. Sharing your details with Firstfund is free. Lenders may charge a processing fee, which they must show in the Key Fact Statement.
